Vira (Eye Ointment)
“"Nothing is better than…."
" Acyclovir is an active agent in VIRA eye ointment, is a guanosin analog anti-viral drug used in the treatment of viral infection caused by Herpes simplex and Herpes zoster virus.
As per literary data Acyclovir is non carcinogenic. Acyclovir is non toxic for mammalian cells but in virus it gives toxic effect. Acyclovir may called as prodrug because in infected cell acyclovir is phosphorylated from monophosphate to triphosphate by cellular enzyme of infected cell which is an active agent against virus. Acyclovir triphosphate inhibits the virons by acts on viral DNA and inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA which stops the multiplication of virus. Uninfected cells does not give any response against acyclovir."
