VAMCLAV DRY SYRUP is an antibacterial combination of two active ingredients i.e. AMOXICILLIN TRIHYDRATE & POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE a combination of semi synthetic antibiotic and beta lactamase inhibitor having bactericidal activity against many gram positive and gram negative organisms used in the treatment of different infections caused by bacteria. This combination is used to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria.

AMOXICILLIN TRIHYDRATE functions by inhibiting the last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis via binding to penicillin binding protein located inside the bacterial cell wall due to which prevention of cross linking of two linear peptidoglycan strands occurs. As a result cell lysis then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins.

POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE is structurally related to penicillin a beta lactamase inhibitor which as individual is inactive but when combined with antibiotic of penicillin class antibiotic it shows its effectiveness against bacterial infection. CALVULANIC acid irreversibly binds, inactivates and inhibits beta lactamase which reduces the effect of microorganism.

VAMCLAV DRY SYRUP is indicated to use in the following conditions-

  • Sinusitis
  • Bronchitis
  • Tonsillitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Otitis Media
  • UTI

Infants Aged <12 weeks (<3 months)- Give 30 mg/kg/day divided every 12 hours.
