“ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTI-BACTERIAL TOGETHER SAME AS, RELIEF AND ANNIHILATION”

COMPOSITION-

Tobramycin Sulphate USP eq. To Tobramycin 0.3%w/v, Fluorometholone USP 0.1%w/v, Benzalkonium Chloride Solution IP 0.02%(As Preservative), Aqueous Buffered Vehicle q.s.

Tobram-F is a combination drug (Tobramycin Sulphate and Fluorometholone) that has both anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effect. It enables the irradiation of bacteria along with response generated against it (inflammation).

MODE OF ACTION- Both the drugs have separate mechanism of action, and are independent of each other. Tobramycin irradiates the bacteria causing infection whereas Fluorometholone reduces the inflammatory reactions, which are in response to the foreign entrants (bacteria). Functions of both the drugs are discussed separately below-:

  • TOBRAMYCIN SULPHATE- Tobramycin readily binds with the ribosomal pair, disabling it to produce m-Rna responsible for the protein formation in bacteria thus ensuring cell death. It also destabilizes the bacterial membrane by binding the 16s r-Rna thus the functional integrity of the bacterial cell membrane appears to be disrupted.
  • FLUOROMETHOLONE- It controls the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the release of their common precursor, arachidonic acid. Arachidonic acid is released from membrane phospholipids by phospholipase A2. They inhibit edema, fibrin deposition, capillary dilation, leukocyte migration, capillary proliferation, fibroblast proliferation; deposition of collagen, scar formation associated with inflammation and delays the healing process.

Conjunctivitis, Blepharitis, pediatric ocular infections, post eye operation, Vision threatening bacterial infections, inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of the globe, chronic anterior uveitis and corneal injury from chemical, radiation or thermal burns, or penetration of foreign bodies.

2-3 Drops in the Eye Sac 02-3 Times a day or as Directed by the Doctor.

  • Indiscriminate and prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non susceptible organisms, including fungal infections, glaucoma and cataract.
  • If irritation persists discontinue its usage and contact your physician.
  • Shake the vial well before use

SIDE EFFECTS-

  • Induce glaucoma, cataracts and potentiate infection, especially in longer treatment periods.
  • Eye drops usually cause your vision to blur for a few minutes after application.
