Takflur comes with an unique formulation that includes both Flurbiprofen and hydroxyl-propyl-methyl-cellulose that prevents mydriasis and inflammation while the other lubricates the cornea.

Flurbiprofen is a member of the phenylalkanoic acid derivative family of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used to treat the inflammation and pain.

Takflur inhibits the activity of both Cyclooxygenase Enzyme (COX-1 & COX-2), and thereby, the synthesis of prostaglandins and Thromboxane. The inhibitory effect of COX 2 is associated with pain relieving activity while COX-1 with anti-inflammatory effect. It also prevents surgically induced miosis in human eyes undergoing cataract extraction. Results from clinical studies indicate that flurbiprofen sodium has no significant effect upon intraocular pressure.
