Takchlor-DX (Eye/Ear Drops)

Takchlor-DX (Eye/Ear Drops)

“AN ANTIBIOTIC WITH EXTRAORDINARY EFFECTS AGAINST MICROBIAL INFECTIONS”

Composition:

Polymyxin B Sulphate 5000 IU, Chloramphenicol 1%, Dexamethasone Sodium

Phosphate Eq. to Dexamethasone Phosphate 0.1% w/v, Phenylmercuric Nitrate 0.001% (As Preservative)

Mode of Action:

Polymyxin B sulfate in Takchlor DX Eye/Ear Drops interacts with the lipo-polysaccharide present in the cytoplasmic outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and dissolves the fatty acid region of the cytoplasmic membrane. This ultimately alters the membrane permeability causing the leakage of cell constituent resulting in bacterial cell death.

Chloramphenicol in Takchlor-DX Eye/Ear Drops is bacteriostatic and binds to the bacterial ribosome thereby blocking peptidyl transferase responsible for chain elongation in the process of Protein Synthesis thus resulting in bacterial cell death. Having broad spectrum and is active against many bacterial strains including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli.

It fulfills its function through multiple pathways, it binds with the corticosteroid receptors and alters the protein synthesis thus prevents the leukocyte infiltration at the site of inflammation, interferes in the function of the mediators responsible for the inflammatory response, suppresses the humoral immune responses and reduction in edema or scar tissue. The anti-inflammatory actions of dexamethasone involve phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins which control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins.

Steroid Responsive inflammatory conditions of Bacterial conjunctivitis, Bacterial blepharitis, superficial ocular as well as auditory canal bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms.
