BETAL-N EYE/EAR DROPS provide a potent anti-inflammatory medication that contain BETAMETHASONE SODIUM PHOSPHATE & NEOMYCIN SULPHATE as its active ingredients a combination of a corticosteroid and an aminoglycoside antibiotic. This medication suppresses the inflammatory responses and also effective against most gram negative & gram positive organisms.

BETAMETHASONE SODIUM PHOSPHATE in Betal-N Eye/Ear Drops is a glucocorticoid and is a potent Anti-Inflammatory which binds with the corticosteroid receptors and alters the protein synthesis thus prevents the leukocyte infiltration at the site of inflammation, interferes in the function of the mediators responsible for the inflammatory response, suppresses the humoral immune responses and reduction in edema or scar tissue. The anti-inflammatory actions of Betamethasone involve phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins which control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and Cyclooxygenase (COX-1 & COX-2).

NEOMYCIN SULPHATE in Betal-N Eye/Ear Drops is a aminoglycoside having activity against Gram negative Bacteria and also partial activity against Gram Positive Bacteria. Neomycin works by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of t-RNA, responsible for producing proteins thus leaving the bacterium unable to synthesize proteins vital to its growth.
