This inactivation of Calcineurin suppresses formation of T helper 1 (Th1) (interleukin (IL)-2, interferon γ) and Th2 cytokines (IL-4, IL-5).Tacrolimus has also been reported to inhibit histamine release from mast cells and is thought to alleviate allergic symptoms through these mechanisms.
